In 2013 Formigine signed a Twinning Agreement with the French city of Saumur, that boasts one of the most beautiful castles of the Loire.
There are significant affinities among the two communities: the presence of a castle, the existence of manufacturing, agricultural and wine and food producers of excellence, but also the demographic dimensions, the rich associative network, the mechanical vocation.
The Municipality of Saumur has 30.000 citizens and is the capital of a district of over a 100.000 inhabitants, called Maine-et-Loire. The city is known all over the world for its National Riding School, for the Cadre Noir show and for the University campus specialised in tourism.
