A pearl of the Renaissance and ancient home to the Pio lords. It retains a significant artistic heritage with testimony of the Middle Ages and an attractive Romanesque church known as “La Sagra”.
But it is the Renaissance period that has brought notoriety to Carpi with its majestic Piazza dei Martiri (the third largest in Italy), overlooked by the Palazzo dei Pio, the Cathedral, the Theatre, the Council Building, the Portico del Grano and the 52 arches of the Portico Lungo.
The Deportation Museum is of major historic interest.
